“CYBER SECURITY 2021” – Workshop on “3 Pillars of Cyber Security”
Department of Computer Engineering, Don Bosco College of Engineering in association with Forum for Innovation Incubation Research & Entrepreneurship (FiiRE), Goa conducted a workshop on “3 pillars of Cyber Security” on 24th, 25th and 26th September 2021. The resource person was Dr. Karim Tobich, Head of Cyber security and Compliance Consultancy, United Kingdom. The session was held on zoom platform. There were 115 registrations for the workshop. Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal – Don Bosco college of Engineering welcomed the speaker and the participants of the workshop. Dr. Karim said “Cyber Security is a very important and a crucial area of research as it is used widely by every individual in day to day life. Research in cyber security is the latest trend as the world has moved online at a faster pace due to the pandemic.”
Day 1 session- Dr. Karim Tobich started the day 1 session explaining about the terms like security, liability, 3 pillars of cyber security. He gave interesting examples to relate, with people and job titles for the same. He also spoke about the different responsibilities; each person has in terms of cyber security. He conducted three small activities in between sessions. He also explained the importance of certifications and types of certifications present.
Day 2 sessions– The CIA triad along with different types of information was explained. He spoke about Information Security Management Systems- the different policies, guidelines and procedures for the same. He gave insights regarding the objectives and types of controls. He explained about the certifications which are possible to get. He explained the importance Fedramp – Federal risk and authorization management program and SOC- Security operation center. He made the session interesting with different activities in between session.
Day 3 session- The session started with understanding what is cyber security and cyber space. He gave examples and showed videos to make these things interesting. He explained the roles and objectives of federal risk and authorization management program and security operation center. He explained different family controls, types of attacks along with examples and activities. The different rights and understanding of Privacy by design were explained. Devsecops and Devops concept was made aware. He gave insights regarding engineering vertical, auditing vertical, program and management vertical. The whole development life cycle stages were explained.
On 26th September, for the concluding session, Director – Rev. Fr Kinley D’cruz, Chief Patron of the workshop joined the zoom platform. Dr. Gaurang Patkar, HOD Computer Engineering Department and Convener of the workshop, delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. D. S. Prashant, CEO FiiRE was also present. The whole session was coordinated by. Prof. Amey K. Shet Tilve, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Engineering & Ms. Ashlesha Noronha, Community Manager, FiiRE.
