Dbce E-Cell Students Visit IIT Bombay

On 2nd May 2025, the students of the Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) visited the SINE (Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) Incubation Centre at IIT Bombay. The objective of the visit was to gain practical exposure to India’s leading startup incubation environment and understand the academic and industry aspects of entrepreneurship.
The first session of the visit was conducted by Mr. Sankalp Pratap, who delivered an engaging talk on “The Emergence of Entrepreneurship as an Academic Field.” He covered the evolution of entrepreneurship as a scholarly discipline and its growing relevance across academic institutions and industries.
Key Highlights from the Session:
- Global Point of Injection: Insights into how global trends have contributed to the rise of entrepreneurship as a formal discipline.
- Scholarly Field of Entrepreneurship: Understanding how entrepreneurship became a research-driven academic area.
- Venture Creation: A breakdown of the process involved in turning innovative ideas into startups.
- Evolution of the Entrepreneurship Industry in India: A look at the transformation of India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem over the past decade.
- Six Components of UBEE: Mr. Pratap shared six core pillars that support university-based entrepreneurship education, including mentorship, funding access, incubation facilities, curriculum integration, interdisciplinary learning, and professional networking.
After the session, the students were addressed by the people of SINE, who introduced them to the centre’s vision and ongoing initiatives. They shared how SINE supports early-stage startups through infrastructure, mentorship, funding access, and connections to industry and academia. This interaction helped students understand how incubation centres function and the kind of support available for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Additionally, the students had the opportunity to meet a startup currently incubated at SINE — AnyD. The team showcased their idea, explaining the problem they’re solving and how they are building their solution in a real-world context. It gave students an inspiring look at entrepreneurship in action.
