DBCE Faculty Visit BITS Pilani Goa Campus

Two faculty members from Don Bosco College of Engineering, Dr. Shreyas Simu (ECS Department), Dr. Suraj Marathe (Mechanical Department)  attended a half-day event titled “Augmenting Academic Capacity in Device Fabrication and Characterization” organized by BITS BIOCyTiH Foundation at BITS Pilani Goa Campus on 1^st August 2025.

The event focused on fostering academic collaboration in the field of device fabrication and characterization, a rapidly growing area relevant to both academic research and industrial applications.

Event Highlights:

• The session began with talks emphasizing the importance of building institutional capabilities in micro- and nano-fabrication.
• Collaborative opportunities with BIOCyTiH Foundation were discussed. Faculty startups were encouraged and proposal for the same were discussed.
• A guided tour of the newly established Device Fabrication Lab at BITS Goa showcased advanced infrastructure including:
  • Maskless Lithography
  • Thin-Film Deposition
  • Packaging and Wire Bonding
  • Optical Surface Profiling
  • Device Characterization
• The event concluded with discussions on inter-institutional collaboration followed by a networking lunch.

This visit served as an insightful exposure to state-of-the-art research facilities and collaborative possibilities in the area of device-level innovation.
