ECS Field Visit to BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus

On October 16, 2025, the third-year (T.E.) and final-year students of the Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) Department, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, participated in a curriculum-enriching field trip to BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus.

The students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Amalin Prince, Head of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department, who provided an insightful overview of the institution’s journey since its establishment in 2004. In his address, Mr. Prince highlighted the EEE department’s key focus areas and ongoing research initiatives, setting the stage for a day of exploration and academic engagement.

Following a brief tea break, Dr. Manish Gupta, Associate Professor, EEE Department, delivered an enlightening session titled “Sand to Silicon,” illustrating how the discovery and use of silicon have revolutionized the field of electronics and research.

Subsequently, Prof. Mriganka and Prof. Sudhanshu Swain conducted interactive sessions on power transmission and energy resources. They discussed the applications of various electronic instruments, including converters, transformers, and power storage devices, inspiring students to pursue innovative solutions in design and development.

The visit continued with a guided tour of the EEE Department’s state-of-the-art laboratories, including the Electrical Machines Lab, Instrumentation Lab, PCB Design Lab, and Advanced Communication Lab. The students gained valuable exposure to the practical applications of their classroom learning and were impressed by the advanced equipment and technology available.

After lunch, the students visited the college gymnasium and the grand auditorium—one of the largest in Goa—which further showcased the campus’s impressive infrastructure.

The visit concluded at around 3:30 p.m., with students returning enriched and inspired by the exposure to advanced research practices, laboratory experiences, and institutional excellence witnessed at BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus.
