CII IWN DBCE Student’s Chapter of our college (DBCE) organized a Educational and Industrial tour for CII IWN Student members to Pune on the 8th and 9th  February 2024.

On the 8th of February 2024, members of the CII-IWN Chapter DBCE engaged in a profoundly enlightening visit to the distinguished College of Engineering Pune (COEP). The day commenced with a captivating introduction by the managing staff, providing a nuanced exploration of COEP’s rich history and legacy, setting the stage for a day replete with discovery and inspiration.

The CII-IWN students were presented with a meticulous overview of COEP’s academic programs and extracurricular activities, underscoring the institution’s unwavering commitment to holistic education and comprehensive student development. The presentation underscored the existence of 56 clubs within the college, showcasing the students’ relentless dedication to making substantive contributions.

A noteworthy facet of the visit was a compelling presentation on the myriad competitions in which COEP students actively participate. Ranging from project competitions to innovative challenges, the presentation vividly portrayed the institution’s culture of innovation and hands-on learning.In a serene session led by a civil engineering student, participants were guided through a meditation practice, fostering self-discipline and a positive life perspective. The visit also encompassed a captivating tour of COEP’s geology museum, affording students the opportunity to witness and interact with various precious stones in their rawest forms, instilling a sense of curiosity and appreciation for the Earth’s geological wonders.

The afternoon unfolded with a visit to COEP’s dynamic robotic club, leaving students awe-struck by the innovative projects and cutting-edge technology on display. A succinct presentation by student member Mr. Amey highlighted the numerous successes of both the college and the club, serving as a potent source of inspiration for the visiting students

The visit to COEP Pune stands as a memorable and profoundly enlightening experience, providing invaluable insights into the institution’s illustrious heritage, unwavering commitment to academic excellence, and the vibrancy of student life. The day offered a comprehensive perspective, allowing students to witness firsthand the dedication to innovation, learning, and holistic development that distinguishes COEP as a beacon of educational excellence.

The members of the CII-IWN chapter DBCE embarked on its second day with a visit to two prominent companies, Kirloskar Pneumatic Co. Ltd. and Kohler Power India Pvt. Ltd. The tour continued with a visit to Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Private Limited, where the group was welcomed by the hospitable hostess, Ms. Anamika Kumari, Senior Officer – HR. The team was provided with an insightful briefing regarding the company’s history, operations, guiding principles, vision, and mission.

Following the briefing, the group underwent a short break before proceeding to the factory tour, during which they were equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits. Mr. Ajit led the tour, showcasing and explaining various machinery and equipment utilized within the facility.

The tour provided invaluable insight into the company’s technological advancement and operational process. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to witness one of the largest natural Green Walls on the premises, an accomplishment recognized in the Limca Book of Records. The visit concluded at 12:30 pm, leaving the group enriched with newfound knowledge and appreciation for Kirloskar Pneumatic Co. Ltd’s endeavors.

Subsequently, the group preceded to Kohler Company, where they were welcomed warmly by the HR, Ms. Nidhi Singh, responsible for recruitment. The group was introduced to the company’s ethos, operations, and activities. Further insights were provided by Mr. Mandar Shirgurkar, Associate Director of India Technical Center – Kohler and Mr. Sameer Bondre, Director of India Technical Center – Kohler through a comprehensive presentation, offering a deeper understanding of the company’s operations.

The company’s journey over the years, marked by significant industry changes and community engagement initiatives, was highlighted. An interactive session followed, featuring three prominent female engineers from the company, who shared their professional journeys, experiences, and advice on achieving work-life balance and navigating career growth amidst industry evolution.

The day concluded with the group departing from Kohler Company, having received a token of appreciation. Overall, the visit to Kohler Company provided a blend of educational and enriching experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of the company’s operations and ethos.

The second day of the industrial tour proved to be enlightening and enriching, offering valuable insights into the operations and ethos of Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Private Limited and Kohler Company. Participants departed with a newfound appreciation for the technological advancement, operational processes, and community engagement initiative undertaken by these esteemed organizations.
