The NDLI Club of Don Bosco College of Engineering in association with the Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a Workshop on “Exploring 3D CAD with SolidWorks: From Sketch to Solids” for the students on 23rd August 2025. The hands-on session was delivered by Mr. Aniket Naik and assisted by Mr. Sachin Turi, Mr. Tanay Rege and Mr. Anish Bandekar, Assistant Professors of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. It aimed at introducing the students to SolidWorks, its sketching tools, and various features to create 3D models. A total of 15 club members registered for the event.

The workshop commenced with an introduction to SolidWorks, where students were given an overview of the software, its user interface, basic navigation tools, and the help resources available to support beginners. This was followed by a session on sketching, in which participants learned how to use different sketch entities, apply sketch tools, add relations, and set dimensions to create precise 2D drawings. The session then moved to feature creation, where students practiced using commands like extrude, revolve, boss, and cut. These tools allowed them to convert their 2D sketches into solid 3D models, helping them understand how simple sketches can be developed into complete designs.

The workshop concluded with an engaging interaction between the resource persons and the students, who gained valuable insights into the applications of SolidWorks. The hands-on experience not only enhanced their understanding of CAD concepts but also emphasized the importance of continuous practice and exploration in mastering 3D modeling tools.
