Field Visit of TE Mechanical Students to MRF & MVR
The Mechanical Engineering Department of Don Bosco College of Engineering conducted a field visit for Third Year Mechanical Students to M.R.F Limited, Usgao, Ponda and M.V.R. Khandepar, on 23rd March 2019. The visit was organized by Prof. Ajit Salunke, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department and the Students were accompanied by Prof. Saurabh Raikar and Prof. Divyajeet Naik
MRF Tyre is India’s No. 1 tyre manufacturing company started in the year 1946 by K. M. Mammen Mappillai. The unit Manufactures product such as tyres, conveyor Belts, sport goods etc , The M.R.F unit in Usgao mainly manufactures tyres for large units such as trucks, tractors etc. The Students were initially briefed about the safety regulations and norms set in practice by the industry followed with the important Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE) at workplace by Mr. Sudheer Phate and Mr. Dipesh Naik, later they took the students on a guided tour and explained students about the tyre manufacturing process. The process includes compound mixing , preparation , tyre building, curing and inspection. They also explained Students about various process parameters undergone by the industry. The industry has TPM (Total protective Maintenance) and is ISO certified which results in better quality of the product.
Later the students Visited the M.V.R ltd. unit in Usgao. The unit deals with construction and maintenance of bridges. The students were explained about the manufacturing process of various parts required for bridges and were briefed about the role of Mechanical Engineer in maintenance of bridges.
This visit was extremely beneficial to the students for understanding the manufacturing and maintenance procedures carried out in the industry. of tyre and other process parameters carried out by the industry.
