Field visit is an important part of education for engineers. It aids to interlink the facts with the practical field. Students get an exposure to the site environment and learn about the standards accepted in market.

On November 8, 2022 a site visit was conducted to Manohar Setu also known as Zuari Bridge by Prof. Satyesh Kakodkar and Prof. Jonessa Ferrao.  A total of 58 students visited the site.

Zuari cable stayed bridge is a high demand project as the existing bridge across Zuari River connecting Panjim and Margao does not cater to heavy vehicle movements due to its poor condition. The Zuari cable stayed bridge is 640m long with central navigational span of 360m and end span on both sides of 140m. This makes the bridge the 2nd longest and widest cable stay bridge in India.

Mr. Deogonda Patil, Deputy Project Manager of Dilip Buildcon Limited who informed the students about the project. He explained about the pre stressing of the cable in the bridge,

The students witnessed the laying of Bitumen coat of 70mm which was compacted to 50 mm.
