FIRST YEAR STUDENTS INAUGRAL

An inaugural prayer service to invoke God’s blessings for the new academic year 2018-19 was held at Don Bosco College of Engineering-Fatorda on 9th July 2018. The service began with a short presentation explaining the activities of the college. Scriptures from the Holy Quran, Bhagvat Gita and the Holy Bible were read by three students from the first year classes. Prof. Sanford Mascarenhas read a small prayer on behalf of the faculty and Shane Gomes from the first year said a prayer on behalf of the students. A hymn was sung by the second year students.

The service was marked by the solemn lighting of the lamp by the Provincial – Rev. Fr. Felix Fernandes, Rector Rev. Fr. Paul D’souza, Director- Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Principal- Dr. Neena Panandikar, Registrar- Dr. Kala Nayak, Rev Fr. Julius Rasquina along with HOD of Mechanical Department and a first year student.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz welcomed the first year students and spoke about our late President Dr. Abdul Kalam and  how he loved children and teaching. In his address he mentioned about the book written by Dr Abdul Kalam,”Ignited Minds”, where he wrote  that people do have power through hard work to realize their dream of a truly good life.

Rev. Fr. Felix Fernandes congratulated the students for having secured admissions at Don Bosco College of Engineering-Fatorda. He further spoke about mind, body and spirit and how the three should be integrated, emphasizing more on spirit, faith and the soul.

The Academic Calendar was released at the hands of Rev. Fr. Felix Fernandes and Rev. Fr. Paul D’souza released the newsletter “Connections”.  Dr. Kala Nayak the Registrar and the HOD of the Science and Humanities, proposed the vote of thanks. The compere for the function was Ms. Maya Lin Noronha.
