GATE AWARENESS FOR THE SECOND YEAR ELECTRONICS & COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
The GATE Awareness for the second year students of Electronics & Computer Science- Don Bosco College of Engineering was organized on Thursday, August 10, 2023. The main objective behind the program is to make students aware about the GATE exam and its importance in higher studies as well as to get job in certain PSU’s.
The resource person for the event was Prof. Deron Rodrigues (Qualified GATE 2021 with percentile 96.5%). He briefed the students about the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and its importance. The Nature of Gate Examination, Pattern of Questions, Gate Test Papers and Eligibility Criteria for GATE were discussed. He said that there are 30 papers in total for GATE 2024 and candidates can apply for up to two papers. The different Papers that can be opted for the exam being in Electronics & Computer science degree such as EC (Electronics and Communication) and CS (Computer Science and Information Technology) were indicated and their syllabus was discussed. This year IISc has added a new paper on Data Science and AI, he added.
Further he went on to describe the marking scheme, Paper Combinations and the Cut-off Scores. He guided the students on techniques to study for GATE and provided some and tips to score in GATE Exam. The queries from the students were answered by the speaker.
