Govt. Polytechnic Panjim Students Visit DBCE

  • formats

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a half-day workshop on “Introduction to CNC” for the third-year Mechanical Engineering students of Government Polytechnic Panjim (GPP). Coordinated by Mr. Sachin Turi and HOD Dr. Suraj Marathe, the visit included a tour of the CNC lab, hands-on training with Master CAM software for NC code generation, and demonstrations of machining on the Institute’s CNC milling and turning centers.

Dr. Marathe highlighted the extensive job opportunities available for Mechanical Engineers in the industry and emphasized the importance of acquiring skills in the latest machining technologies, such as CNC, for manufacturing. The Mastercam sessions were conducted by Mr. Sachin Turi and Mr. Aniket Naik, during which students engaged in machining a simple turning component—beginning with the process planning and progressing through cutter path simulation for final validation. After these sessions, Mr. Gaurish Samant introduced the students to the CNC Milling and Turning Centre. He explained the machine’s key components, its working principles, and the axis configurations. This was followed by a live demonstration of a turning operation by Mr. Diptesh Naik, showcasing the complete machining process in real time.

The students were accompanied by faculty members, Mr. Sunil Shetye, Dr. Raghunath Chary, and Mr. Sunil Gaude. Mr. Ajit Salunke highlighted the importance of automation technologies for future skill development and expressed his gratitude to the faculty members for accompanying the students. Director Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, and Principal, Dr. Neena Panandikar interacted with the students and wished them success in their upcoming career paths.
