Hands-on sessions at Automobile Workshop & a Local Garage
Students of Mechanical Department, Don Bosco College of Engineering visited an Automobile workshop and a local two wheeler garage near the college on 17th April 2019 to study the practical applications of the theory they study in class. The session was organised as a part of their academic Maintenance audit course. The owner of Pooja Motors, Mr. Mangesh Vharkat, explained the concepts of wheel alignment & wheel balancing and how it is performed on a vehicle. The students were also shown the live demonstration on the same. Then the students visited ‘Sabha’ garage in Arlem. The Mechanic, Mr. Jaffar took deep interest in teaching the students the actual mechanisms and linkages in a two wheeler. He dismantled the entire engine and showed students the Multiplate clutch, cylinder head and valves, oil pump, ignition system and carburettor for geared bike and CVT, clutch for a non-geared bike. The students also got some hands-on experience to work with various components of an engine.
The session was organised by Prof. Saurabh Raikar with support from Prof. Ajit Salunke, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department. Prof. Swapnil Ramani and Prof. Ishan Kossambe are the coordinators for the Maintenance audit course. The students were accompanied by Prof. Divyajeet Naik.
