IEEE Bombay Section Power & Energy Society Organized “Finance Management Workshop for Women”
On the occasion of 4th IEEE R9 PES WiP Day, a workshop on Finance Management for Women was organised by IEEE PES Bombay Chapter in association with IEEE Student Branch of Don Bosco College of Engineering (IEEE DBCE) and IEEE S.B. Jain Student Chapter. The speaker of the day was Ms. Garima Bajaj Saxena, 2nd Certified Management Accountant USA and Certified Financial Plannner USA. The event was held virtually on 29 September 2021 at 5.00pm on the Webex Meetings platform
Ms. Saxena began the workshop by briefing the audience about the objectives of financial management such as understand your financial situation, creating a budget, making a plan for self and family, etc. She spoke about the different ways in which a girl could save money and manage their finances while studying which was quite essential since most of the participants were students. The speaker also emphasized on the benefits of finance management at an early age. She also explained a few investment choices which include Equity Mutual Funds (EMFs) via Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), FDs, Fixed Maturity Plans (FMPs), etc. Some important points to be considered while going for a start-up or business were also discussed. Furthermore, Garima Bajaj Saxena also provided a checklist of factors to consider before starting a business. The workshop was concluded by the speaker explaining to the participants how women should be financially independent with age and to review one’s financial portfolio with financial goals every year. Towards the end, there was a Q&A session where the participants asked various questions, which were answered by the speaker, therefore clearing the participants doubts.
