IEEE DBCE at LUMINI 2025

The IEEE DBCE Student Branch attended LUMINI 2025, hosted at BITS Pilani, Goa, on 15th and 16th March 2025. The event brought together esteemed dignitaries, faculty, and students for knowledge exchange and academic collaboration.
On Day one, the inaugural ceremony featured a welcome by Mr. Chaitanya (IEEE BITS Pilani Chairperson) and a keynote by Mr. Ashish Arora (Founder, Physics Galaxy), who discussed innovative teaching methodologies in JEE & NEET coaching, physics Olympiads, and EdTech advancements. Dr. Dipankar Pal (IEEE SB Counselor, BITS Pilani) emphasized IEEE’s role in technological progress, and Mr. Aditya Joshi (Vice President, IEEE BITS Pilani) concluded with a vote of thanks.
Technical Sessions & Discussions
On Day two, Dr. M. K. Bhuyan (IIT Guwahati) delivered a session on “Human Vision vs Computer Vision & Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs),” covering AI-driven innovations like deep learning, convolutional layers, and real-world applications.
Narayanan Subramaniam (Founder, VaNaShRi Technology Consulting) presented on “A Path to Learning” and “AI/ML in Industrial Decarbonization & Electric Vehicles.” He emphasized conceptual learning techniques, AI’s role in reducing industrial emissions, and optimizing EV technology.
Ankit Mahato (Samsung R&D, Founder of API Dash) discussed Open Source AI and AI Agents, differentiating true open-source AI from open-weight models using Llama as an example. He introduced MetaGPT and CrewAI for multi-agent systems and encouraged students to participate in Google Summer of Code (GSoC). He aligned with industry predictions that 2025 will be the year of “Agentic AI.”
Paper Presentation Competition
The event also featured a Paper Presentation Competition with research topics including VLSI, AI, and Cryptography. The DBCE team secured 3rd place for their outstanding research and presentation skills, earning recognition for their technical expertise.
LUMINI 2025 provided IEEE DBCE with valuable exposure to cutting-edge research and expert insights. Prof. Yeshudas Muttu, IEEE DBCE Branch Counselor, was appreciated by the Dr. Dipankar Pal for his encouragement and support.
