IEEE DBCE Student Branch Organizes “Dot Your Design”

The IEEE Bombay Section Students Activities Committee (SAC) collaborated with IEEE Student Branch of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Goa to organize a Graphic designing Workshop titled “Dot Your Design” on May 8 & 9, 2021. The Guest Speakers for the workshop were Mr. Rakshit Shah (Design Lead, IEEE Bombay Section SAC) and Mr. Sahil Sawant (Design Team Member, IEEE Bombay Section SAC). The entire workshop was mainly focused around the software namely Canva.

On Day 1, Ms. Anjima Rajesh as the host introduced Mr. Rakshit Shah to the audience. Mr. Rakshit began the workshop by giving the participants a lot of knowledge on the basics of designing. He further went on to introducing Canva Pro. ,Graphic designer’s role, do’s and don’ts, the purpose of creating any design, font specifications and the texture in the design. Dr. Sarika Chouhan, IEEE Bombay Section SAC Chairperson, appreciated the efforts put forth by IEEE BS SAC team and IEEE DBCE Student Branch team.

On Day 2, the host Ms. Sheena Mashelkar welcomed the speaker Mr. Sahil Sawant. Mr. Sahil started the session by giving many examples of different designs and gave guidelines in designing different things like posters, PowerPoint presentations, letters, resume, etc. using Canva Pro. Considering a particular theme, he designed a few posters by himself and gave out lot of tips and tricks to the participants about the same. Few of the freeware posters designing tools were than shared.

Prof. Yeshudas Muttu, IEEE DBCE Branch Counselor mentioned about the collaborative work by IEEE BS SAC & IEEE DBCE SB and as an outcome of this event declared a poster design competition on the theme. The event was truly full of knowledge and received an active participation from 12 different colleges. Mr. Renvick Fernandes, IEEE BS SAC Volunteer & IEEE DBCE SB member delivered the vote of thanks.
