IEI DBCE Student’s Chapter Celebrates World Engineering Day

Don Bosco College of Engineering’s Student Chapter of the Institution of Engineers, India (IEI), celebrated World Engineering Day on March 21, 2025, at the college campus in association with the IEI Goa State Centre. On this occasion, the installation ceremony of the new Student Chapter working committee for the year 2025-26 was conducted.
The Chief Guest for the event was Shri Ashish Deshpande, Managing Director of Syntegon Technology India Pvt. Ltd., Goa, while Dr. Anasuya Ganguly, Professor of Biological Sciences at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus, was the Guest Speaker. Also present on the dais were Er. Anwar Khan, Chairman of the IEI Goa State Centre; Er. Siddhant Dubhashi, Secretary of the IEI Goa State Centre; Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Director of DBCE; Dr. Suraj Marathe, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at DBCE; and Prof. Ajit Salunke, faculty coordinator of the IEI DBCE Chapter. Er. Benedicto Andrade, Convenor of the IEI Goa State Centre, compered the event.
Shri Ashish Deshpande shared insights on how future engineers can cultivate a “Growth Mindset” by stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing new challenges. He also emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial thinking and encouraged students to seize internship opportunities whenever possible. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz highlighted that being an engineer does not mean knowing everything or ending the learning process; instead, learning should be continuous, regardless of one’s chosen field. Er. Anwar Khan commended the DBCE faculty for reviving the chapter of the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers and for taking the initiative to conduct various technical activities. Dr. Suraj Marathe encouraged students to take advantage of their involvement in chapters like the IEI to gain valuable professional experience.

Earlier, Prof. Ajit Salunke presented the annual report of the chapter and outlined its future course of action. The installation of the new committee members was conducted by Er. Siddhant Dubhashi. The newly elected members include Mr. Deep Joshi (Convenor), Aditya Mandal, Liban Khan, Denzil Godinho, Sahas Sawkar, Shravan Phadte, and Aniket Dongre.
Dr. Anasuya Ganguly delivered a talk on “3D Bio-Printing,” covering topics such as extrusion printing, bioink, and the applications of 3D bioprinting in drug research and screening, drug delivery, and the printing of tissues and organs.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Abhishek Dais, the outgoing Convenor. The event was coordinated by Prof. Ajit Salunke and Prof. Sharad Shanbhag and was organized by the student committee.
