Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, marked a milestone with the inauguration of its music club, Symphonia, on 8th August 2025 from 2:00 p.m. The event began with the comperes, both first-year students, emphasizing that music embodies unity through an act.

The inauguration commenced with a welcome, followed by the prayer and lighting of the lamp, and the unveiling of the club’s logo. In her welcome address, Principal Dr. Neena Panandikar expressed her long-cherished wish to establish a music club in the college. Fr. Ralin De Souza, Rector, underlined the significance of music in a Don Bosco institution, recalling that St. John Bosco himself valued music deeply.

Mr. Yeshudas Muttu, Assistant Professor in the ECS Department and Convenor of the club, introduced Symphonia, explaining the thought process behind its formation. He described the logo, featuring musical notes shaped into a yin and yang symbol, as a representation of unity through music.

The event was graced by two eminent Goan personalities. Special Guest Mr. Siddhanath Buyao, a renowned music composer, singer, and sound engineer celebrated for his contributions to Konkani music and culture, spoke about nurturing young musical talent. Special Guest Mr. Lenoy Gomendes, a versatile artist and celebrated figure in Konkani stage and music, lauded the college’s initiative in promoting music.

The installation of the Music Club Committee followed, with Vandesh Uday Naik (Civil Department) as President, Sherwin Myron Dias (ECS Department) as Vice President, Chirag Nayak (Computer Department) as Treasurer, and Nikodemus Fernandes (Mechanical Department) as Secretary.

Mementos were presented to the special guests as a token of appreciation. This was followed by a melodious choral performance: a mashup of Hindi, English, and Konkani songs accompanied by various instruments, performed by students and faculty members. The performance received a standing ovation and was followed by a lively jamming session, perfectly embodying the spirit of Symphonia.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vice President Sherwin Myron Dias, acknowledging the contributions of all who made the inauguration a success.
