Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The Department of Computer Engineering in association with CCodes organized seminar on 5th July 2024 on the topic “Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. The session commenced with a quote by Lao Tzu: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” setting the tone for his narrative on his entrepreneurial journey. Mr. Diniz shared his experiences participating in various events such as BITS Quark ’20 and SIH, Smart Panaji Hackathon, notably during the lockdown period. He explained his decision to forego a corporate job in favor of starting his own venture, ultimately founding Spintly. Initially joining as a software engineer, Spintly launched its first products, Spyke under Spyke Social Pvt Ltd. Highlighting the challenges encountered, Mr. Diniz candidly discussed the initial setback with Spyke, emphasizing the importance of customer feedback. Drawing parallels, he referenced Reddit’s growth and setbacks, noting how they leveraged Reddit to improve Spyke’s offerings and reassure users about their privacy policies. Transitioning to his current venture, Mr. Diniz elaborated on Velocilabs, a company aiding startups in navigating corporate environments. He concluded with a motivating quote from Tony Robbins: “The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.” Overall, Mr. Diniz’s talk provided valuable insights into the reality of entrepreneurship, emphasizing resilience, innovation, and the importance of initiating one’s journey. The participants left with a deeper understanding of the entrepreneurial landscape and inspired to embark on their own ventures.
