INSTALLATION OF THE 7th COUNCIL OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS HUB (MESH)

The Mechanical Engineering Students Hub (MESH) of Don Bosco College of Engineering Fatorda inducted their Students Council for the academic year 2018-19. Mr. Sandip Bhandare, President, Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI) was the Chief Guest for the Installation Ceremony and Dr. Ketan Bhatikar, Medical Director of GCA, IAP General Secretary and Ex – Ranji Physiotherapist was the Guest of Honour.  Also present on the dais were Rev Fr. Kinley D’ Cruz, Director, Dr Neena Panandikar, Principal, Prof.  Ajit Salunke, Head of Department – Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. Sandip Bandhare urged the students to have an entrepreneurial mind set and appreciated the college for taking initiative to set up an Incubation Centre which could benefit the students. Dr. Ketan Bhatikar stressed on how rejection is the first step to success and said that Mechanical engineers should strive to create lifesaving and life supporting systems.  Fr. Kinley D’ Cruz urged the students to dare to take challenges, reinvent and constantly upgrade themselves. Dr. Neena Panandikar lauded the student’s achievements and informed that the college has adopted 5 villages in Goa under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. Prof. Ajit Salunke spoke about the MechHeads club and it’s role in Community Outreach Programmes Noah Rodrigues, Editor of the outgoing MESH Committee, briefed about the activities, events and industrial visits conducted by the association in the last academic year.

The new council of MESH consisting of the Chairman – Anuj Dhond, Secretary – Rohan Borkar, Treasurer – Sagar Naik, Editor – Keegan Pinto and student Executive Members– Prithvi Amonkar, Benecia Colaco, Bahar Phadte were inducted by Mr. Sandip Bandhare. Mr. Anuj Dhond proposed the vote of thanks. Various events like Debate, Quiz, PubG were organised as part of the program.

At the Valedictory Function, Mr. Nilesh Desai, Chief General Manager (Operations), Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd. was the Chief Guest. He congratulated the new MESH committee and spoke spoke on importance of Maintenance Engineering in the Industry. Prof. Ishaan Kosambe gave a brief report of the Audit Course on “Maintenance Engineering”, a first of its kind course in the state of Goa, held during the academic year 2017-2018 for Third Year students. Mr. Nilesh Desai is the industry coordinator of the course.
