KAPILA: Kalam Program for IP Literacy and Awareness National Intellectual Property Literacy Week 15- 23 October 2020
The Hon’ble Minister of Education, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ with Shri Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre, Minister of State, Ministry of Education (MoE), launched the ‘KAPILA’ Kalam Program for Intellectual Property Literacy and Awareness. Under this program and as a first step, “IP Literacy Week” was organised during 15 – 23 October 2020 to celebrate the birth anniversary of visionary and well acclaimed proponent of Innovative India, Former President, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
Under the Intellectual Property Literacy Week, a number of activities were organized from October 15th to October 23, in which online awareness was created about the system and the importance of the process of applying for a patent.
Under the Institution’s Innovation Council as MIC Driven activity, the faculty and students of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda attended various online sessions conducted by various eminent personalities on Lateral Thinking – How to generate revolutionary ideas, Seeding Ideas to Harvesting Innovation for Social Good : Role of Intellectual Property Rights ,Building IP, Innovation Ecosystem in Academic Institutions, IP Clinic , Building IP, Innovation Ecosystem in Academic Institutions , Patent Filing Process. All the sessions were very informative and the participants gained deep knowledge in the field of Intellectual Property. Apart from the online sessions various other activities i.e. a song on “Innovation, Intellectual Property & entrepreneurship” was composed and recorded, a banner was created and shared widely through different social media to create awareness among students regarding the campaign, a short video on best innovative practices/innovation and incubation facilities existing in campus to support student regarding innovation, Intellectual Property and entrepreneurship was created to promote the Intellectual Property Literacy Week.We also identified the existing products done by our students which are ready to apply for patent.Overall the entire week’s sessions were very enriching.
