M.E. Field Visit to Kundaim

  • formats

A field trip was organized to visit a Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plant located at [Kundaim Industrial Estate] for ME in Structural Engineering. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the production process, quality control, and operations involved in the manufacture and supply of ready mix concrete. This visit was part of our academic curriculum to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation in the field of construction materials. Er. Kishan Mangueshkar, Business Development Officer, led the students through a tour of the plant.

The plant was equipped with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems for precision and consistency in concrete mix design. Regular slump tests, cube tests, and moisture content checks were observed in their on-site lab. Proper safety protocols and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage were mandatory within the plant premises.

The Quality and Control (Q&C) Manager conducted a live demonstration of the self-compacting concrete (SCC) mix design process. During the session, students observed various tests performed to evaluate the pumpability and flowability of the concrete. Additionally, they were introduced to a range of concrete types produced at the plant, including lightweight concrete, foam concrete, and no-fines concrete, among others.
