NDLI Session on Education and Technology: The Way Forward

The NDLI Club of Don Bosco College of Engineering in association with the Department of Computer Engineering organized a Talk on “Education and Technology: The Way Forward”. Mr. Merwyn D’Souza, Assistant Professor – Department of Computer Engineering, welcomed the gathering and introduced the distinguished speaker, Dr. Arnab Kumar Paul, Assistant Professor, BITS Pilani, Goa. A total of 42 club members registered for the event.

Dr. Arnab Kumar Paul began the session by sharing his journey as a student council member, where he played a key role in bridging the gap between teachers and students. His leadership style was defined by open communication, empathy, and the ability to bring forward practical solutions to academic concerns. Through his work, he fostered a stronger bond between students and faculty, creating a collaborative environment that encouraged both academic and personal growth. His experiences highlighted the belief that education is most effective when it is built on mutual trust and cooperation.

Dr. Paul also discussed his significant contribution in bringing changes to the PhD curriculum, ensuring it is aligned with the rapidly evolving needs of the modern academic and professional world. He stressed the importance of integrating technology, interdisciplinary learning, and research-based approaches to make higher education more relevant and impactful. These reforms aimed at equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for tackling real-world challenges. His vision for the future demonstrated how leadership combined with innovation can drive meaningful change in education, especially at the intersection of technology and learning.

Concluding the event, Mr. Merwyn D’Souza, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Paul for sharing his inspiring journey, valuable insights, and perspectives on the role of technology in shaping the future of education The event was successfully coordinated by Ms. Siya Khandeparkar, Assistant Professor and NDLI Coordinator – Department of Computer Engineering, along with Ms. Vanessa Fernandes, NDLI Coordinator – Library.
