NDLI Session on ‘Role of The Youth in Societal Development’

The Department of Science & Humanities’ SEEDS Association and the Library, DBCE in association with the National Digital Library of India Club organized a Talk session on “Role of the Youth in Societal Development” by Dr. Sameer Patil. A total of 82 club members registered for the event. Ms. Avila Naik welcomed the gathering and introduced the distinguished speaker, Sameer Patil, Controller of Examinations – Goa University.
Dr. Patil began the talk by highlighting the potential of young individuals to drive positive change within their communities. He discussed the need for youth to be self-motivated and encouraged the students to join or start tech-social clubs. He also emphasized the importance of volunteering with NGOs to bridge technology and societal needs. Dr. Patil pointed out key challenges faced by youth, including lack of awareness, limited mentorship, and funding constraints. He proposed solutions like social impact workshops, partnerships with incubators, and CSR-driven youth grants to tackle these hurdles.
Dr. Sameer Patil concluded the session with strong motivational messages, “Engineering = Humanity”, reminding students that engineering and technology should always serve human needs, and “Be the engineer who builds bridges”, a metaphor urging youth to connect ideas, communities, and technologies for a better future, thus encouraging youth to step up as responsible and innovative leaders in their local communities.
The talk by Dr. Sameer Patil was truly inspiring and motivated the participants to realize the immense responsibility and potential the youth hold in shaping society. The session successfully conveyed that the youth should be socially responsible and committed to building a better future. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Vanessa Fernandes, Library Assistant, and expressing gratitude to Dr. Patil for his enlightening session.
