NPTEL, IIT Madras organized a one day workshop on NPTEL awareness at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda on 21st July 2018. The workshop had a brief inaugural session in which the Chief Guest, Fr Kinley DCruz, Director of Don Bosco College of Engineering explained how NPTEL is helping institutions in handholding for digital training. Earlier Prof. Roseline, NPTEL SPOC for Don Bosco College of Engineering explained how the Chapter was started in college and how the students and faculty have made the best use of the features available.
The first session on NPTEL and its features was conducted by Prof. Pratap Haridoss, NPTEL Coordinator, IIT Madras who spoke about the functionalities of NPTEL website, the benefits it offers and the upcoming new advances in the site.
Prof Andrew Thangaraj, NPTEL Coordinator, IIT Madras then spoke about online certification courses. He explained how NPTEL uses its online platform to provide free online courses and also administers certification exams at the end of each term. He explained the passing criteria and evaluation of the courses through the site.
The last session was conducted by Ms. Bharati Balaraj who explained how colleges could start a NPTEL Local Chapter and benefit from it. Students could avail of fee waivers, mentoring and other features of the NPTEL Local Chapter.
The workshop concluded with a question and answer session. The workshop was attended by a wide range of participants from Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The workshop was coordinated by Prof Roseline Fernandes and Prof. Avila Naik.
