Participation in Intercollegiate Football Championship 2025

The Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, proudly participated in the Intercollegiate Football Championship organized by Goa University. The tournament witnessed massive participation with 29 teams in the women’s category and 47 teams in the men’s category, making it one of the most competitive intercollegiate football events of the year.
Women’s Team Performance
Our women’s team displayed outstanding performance and determination throughout the tournament. In their first match, they faced Dempo College, Cujira. The team showed excellent coordination and fighting spirit, eventually securing a narrow but important 1-0 victory. The winning goal came from Raynel Dias, who capitalized on a fine attacking move to give DBCE the lead, which they maintained till the final whistle.
In the second match, DBCE clashed with DM’s College, Assagao. The match ended in a draw at full time, leading to a penalty shootout. The pressure was immense, but our players held their nerve. Raynel Dias, Ajury Silva, and Miffy Rebelo scored in the shootout to secure victory and a place in the next round.
The team’s confidence continued to rise, and in the quarterfinals, DBCE faced Fr. Agnel College, Pilar. With strong teamwork and disciplined defending, our girls dominated the game and emerged with a convincing 2-0 victory. This ensured the team’s spot in the semifinals, a proud achievement for the players and the college.
In the semifinal match, DBCE met Don Bosco College, Panjim, a strong contender. Despite their best efforts, our team could not match the pace and finishing of the opponents and lost by 5-0. Nevertheless, their overall performance throughout the tournament was commendable. By reaching the semifinal stage, the team secured a joint 3rd place trophy, bringing pride and recognition to the college.
Men’s Team Performance
In the men’s category, which saw a record participation of 47 teams, DBCE faced Fr. Agnel College, Pilar, in the opening round. The match was challenging, with both sides playing with intensity. However, our men’s team could not find their rhythm and conceded two goals. The match ended in a 2-0 defeat, marking an early exit for the team.
Though the result was disappointing, the men’s team gained valuable experience from competing at this high level. The match highlighted areas for improvement, and the players are determined to come back stronger in future tournaments.
The women’s team’s joint 3rd place finish was a remarkable achievement, showcasing their resilience, teamwork, and skill against some of the strongest teams in Goa. The men’s team, despite an early exit, showed commitment and sportsmanship, which will serve as a stepping stone for better performances in the future.
