PCB Design & Fabrication Workshop

Forum for Innovation Incubation Research and Entrepreneurship (FiiRE) in association with Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda – Goa (DBCE), organized a hands-on workshop on PCB Design & Fabrication on  May 13, 2023. The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Flavia Leitao Asst. Professor, Electronics and Computer Science Department (ECS), DBCE, along with the assistance of Mr. Aloysius Baptista Laboratory Assistant, ECS Dept. DBCE.

The workshop covered the basic concepts of PCB Design, Schematic and Layout Design in Eagle, Generating the Gerbers and G-codes and fabricating the PCB on the Nvis 72 CNC Machine.

The Workshop saw the participation of both students from various colleges and Industry persons from companies like CommScope India Pvt. Ltd., Diagopreutic Pvt. Ltd., Devki Traders, etc..

The workshop started in the morning after breakfast with the fabrication of the PCB, where particpants were shown and explained all the stages of PCB design namely Milling, Engraving, Routing and Drilling, in the PDB Design lab of FiiRE. Later they were taken to the Embedded Systems lab of DBCE, where they were taught in detail the Schematic and Layout in Eagle, and were also individually made to do the schematic and Layout design.

After the Layout, the participant generated the gerbers and gcodes that were required for the CNC machine for fabrication. They were also briefed on the important concepts of PCB design and also high frequency design.

Overall it was an enriching experience for all the participants. The resourse person was greatly appeciated and was asked to conduct similar workshops in Commscope Industry as well, which would benefit a greater crowd.
