The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Goa, through the Centre for Research, Development and Innovation (RDI), has launched PRAYoG (Promoting Research Among Youth of Goa) — a structured research support programme aimed at guiding students to transform their final-year projects into publishable research. The initiative, open to all academic streams, is jointly implemented by the college’s R&D Cell and RDI–DHE, and is designed to be conducted in three progressive phases.

In this regard, the Phase I Talk was organized on 7th October 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Auditorium for the B.E. students.

The session was conducted by Prof. Niyan Marchon, who delivered an insightful and engaging talk on the fundamentals of research in engineering. He began by distinguishing between engineering projects and engineering research, stressing the importance of cultivating a research mindset at the undergraduate level.

Prof. Niyan elaborated on various types of research in engineering, methods to identify research problems, and effective techniques for literature review, including the use of Boolean search strategies. He also explained the concept of “quality journals” indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, providing relevant examples to help students discern credible publication platforms.

The session concluded with practical guidance on summarizing literature and an encouraging message motivating students to pursue innovative, publication-oriented research. The talk was highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation from students of Civil, Computer, Mechanical, and Electronics & Computer Science Engineering departments.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Shwetha Prasanna, Chairperson, R&D Cell, along with R&D team members — Dr. Nitendra Palankar, Dr. Shreyas Simu, Dr. Chetan Gaonkar, and Dr. Gaurang Patkar. The session successfully marked the beginning of the PRAYoG initiative, inspiring students to explore research opportunities within their respective disciplines.
