Report of Café Session
Café Session was conducted by the Department of Science and Humanities, Don Bosco College of Engineering on October 22, 2022 from 3pm to 4 pm. Mrs. Vaishali Parakhi Assistant Professor, Don Bosco College of Engineering delivered a session on topic “Introduction to Geogebra” .
She gave an introduction of GeoGebra and demonstrated its dynamic and interactive interface. She made aware that Geogebra is an opensource software, freely available from www.geogebra.org. She further explained that it brings together Geometry, Algebra, Calculus, spread sheets, graphing, statistics and probability applications into a single package. The audience were informed that GeoGebra is available for Windows, mac OS and Linux. GeoGebra has tablet apps for Android, iPad and Windows also.
In her session she also demonstrated some of its applications on the GeoGebra interface : drawing in 2D to extend in 3D – for example a pyramid Visualizing the solid obtained by rotation of a polynomial about the x axis ,drawing the polynomial in 2D , drawing a connector segment between the x-axis and the function, drawing a circle with the connector segment as radius , using the connector to make the circle move in the 2nd quadrant etc. The session was interactive and useful.
