The one week TEQIP III AICTE-ISTE STTP on “Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning” was organized by the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department of Don Bosco College  of Engineering in association with Department of Technology,Shivaji University from 2nd July to 6th July 2018.

The workshop commenced on 2nd July 2018, with an inaugural ceremony in the distinguished presence of Dr. P.V Anandmohan, Technology advisor,CDAC Bangalore who was the Chief Guest and Dr.Jaydeep Bagi,Director- Department of Technology,Shivaji University who was the Guest of Honor for the occasion. The other guests present on the occasion were, Director of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Rev.Fr.Kinley D’Cruz, Principal of Don Bosco College of Engineering,Dr.Neena Panadikar,H.O.D. of ETC Department.Prof.Michelle Viegas, Professor at KLE Dr.Uday Wali.

Prof. Samantha Cardoso, Program coordinator, introduced the workshop and explained the need to know about the technologies that are associated with Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning and also briefed on the schedule of the workshop. Dr.Neena Panadikar thanked the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour for participating in the function. She also appreciated the ETC Department for putting in efforts to organize the workshop. Rev. Fr.Kinley D’Cruz addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of maintaining individual identity and being yourself despite the pressures of the world.

Dr.Jaydeep Bagi, addressed the gathering and stressed that everyone needs to believe in the spirit of going ahead and believing in oneself.

Dr.P V Anand in his address spoke about how Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers should be innovative and contribute to society and use technology effectively and efficiently.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof.D.S Vidhya. The inaugural function was compered by Prof.Anisha Cotta.

The first session on day 1 commenced with the key note address by Prof. Dr. P V Anand Mohan, Technology advisor,CDAC Bangalore who gave a brief insight on Artificial Intelligence & Machine learning. The next session was by Prof Dr. Rashmi Rachh, Associate Professor,VTU Belgavi who explained various models and algorithms associated with machine learning. Third session for the day was given by Prof. Dr. Kotrappa Sirbi, Professor,KLE DR MSS CET,Belgavi who gave in-depth knowledge on data sciences. This session was followed by a hands on session on Python and Anaconda Programming by Ms. Shilpa Mayannavar, Research scholar at C-Quad, Belagavi

The second day of the workshop commenced with hands-on session on “Python Programming” by Ms. Shilpa Mayannavar. The second session for the day was delivered by Mr. Shashidhar Halligerimath, Assistant Professor, KLE DR MSS CET, Belgavi on “Machine Learning Algorithm using Python.

The Post lunch session was delivered by Mr. Abhinandan Shirahatti, Assistant professor KLE DR MSS CET, Belgavi. He delivered a session on “Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval.

 On day 3, the session commenced with the introduction to the concept of texture analysis. The session was delivered by Dr. Lingaraj Hadimani, Assistant Professor, KLE Belgavi. The second session was by Mrs.Geeta Navalyal, From KLE ,Belgavi which covered mobile healthcare system and benefits of machine learning in brain control interface. The third session was by Mrs.Sujata Patil, KLE ,Belgavi. The last session was by Mrs.Shreedevi Nagarmunoli KLE DRMSSCET, Belgavi who briefed about the  Theano python library and hands-on exposure was given to the participants.

On the fourth day the resource person for the day was Dr Satyadhyan  Chickerur from the NVIDIA team. He started his session with an introduction to Deep Learning, which is an algorithm that learns from examples. Mr. A. R Unnikrishnan, who runs the Business Development for higher Studies and Research Segment of NVDIA, briefed us on all the sectors that NVIDIA deals with like Nvidia Tesla Cards, Nvidia AI Interface, Nvidia GPU cloud, Nvidia SDKs, etc.

The fifth day of the workshop, commenced with a session by Dr. V. M. Aparanji , Assistant Professor, SIT Tumakuru on “Building a modular ANN library using R” in which she introduced the various operators and data types in R used for neural networks. In the second session, Ms. Shilpa Mayannavar, Research scholar at C-Quad, Belagavi demonstrated the implementation of neural network in Python. In the post lunch session, she explained the processor design strategies for neural networks.

This one week TEQIP-III finally came to conclusion with a valedictory session presided by Chief Guest, Mr.Satish Anigeri, Guest of honor, Dr.Uday Wali, Director Rev,Fr. Kinley D’Cruz. The report of the workshop was presented by Prof.Samantha Cardoso, Program coordinator. Following the report, Program coordinator Prof. D S Vidhya introduced the Chief Guest for the day. The Chief Guest while addressing the gathering encouraged faculty to undergo courses to update themselves and to teach with passion. The participants were awarded a certificate by Mr.Satish Anigeri, Dr.Uday Wali, and Rev, Fr. Kinley D’Cruz. The feedback given by the participants was overwhelming. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof.Michelle Araujo e Viegas, HOD of ETC Dept. The valedictory function was compered by Prof.Yeshudas Muttu.

A total of 33 participants attended the workshop from different institutes.

The coordinators for the workshop were Prof.Samantha Cardoso and Prof.D.S Vidhya.
