Research Paper Presentation by Prof. Ajit Salunke at the National University of Singapore

Prof. Ajit Salunke, Associate Professor in the Mechanical Department at Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), presented his research paper titled “Estimation of Physical Properties of Unboiled Type Arecanuts using Load Cell and Ellipsoid Approximation” at the 2025 3rd International Conference on Mechatronics, Control, and Robotics (ICMCR 2025)the, held at National University of Singapore from February 14 to 16, 2025. Organized by the College of Design and Engineering at the National University of Singapore and the Systems and Sensors Society of Singapore, the event was co-sponsored by Jeju National University, South Korea, and IEEE.
During his presentation, Prof. Salunke discussed his research on estimating the volume and mass of unboiled arecanut kernels using machine vision. He elaborated on the feasibility of applying this technique for real-time quality grading of kernels based on true density. Additionally, he highlighted further advancements in the study and its publication in journals.
The conference gathered researchers from various countries, including China, Japan, the USA, India, Canada, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Singapore, to exchange their research findings. The papers will be published in ICMCR2025 Conference Proceedings, which will be archived in IEEE Xplore and submitted to be indexed by Ei Compendex and Scopus.
Prof. Salunke received grants from the Department of Science, Technology, and Waste Management, Government of Goa, to attend the conference and present his research paper.
