Role of AI in Research & Matrix Factorization Using SVD and Its Applications

The Research and Development cell (R&D cell) of Don Bosco college of Engineering organized a session on Role of AI in Research by Dr. Subramanya Bhat, and Matrix Factorization using SVD and Its Applications by Dr. Kala Nayak.
Dr. Subramanya Bhat delivered a talk on the role of AI in research, covering topics such as conventional and modern research methods, AI-driven research tools, and the impact of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL) on research. He introduced various AI tools like SciSpace and Merlin App that aid in research and analysis.
Dr. Kala Nayak presented on matrix factorization using SVD and its applications, explaining the need for matrix factorization, singular value decomposition (SVD), matrix norms, rank, linear independence, and singular vs. eigenvalues. She also detailed the computational steps involved in SVD and its applications. The session was interactive and informative, attended by faculty members and postgraduate students from civil and computer engineering. The event was coordinated by Dr. Shwetha Prasanna, R&D chairperson, and Dr. Nitendra Palankar, R&D Cell secretary.
