The second year students of Department of Civil Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering, visited  the Salaulim Dam on September 14, 2023  along with 3 faculty members Kaushik Pai Fondekar ,Starina Dias and Swaroopa sail

The students visited the Salaulim dam which is located on the river Salaulim, a tributary of the river Zauri.

The students witnessed intriguing and unique aspects of this dam in its design. The spillway at the edge of the dam is a unique duckbill type .The mist cover over the dam during the overflow is a breathtaking sight for shutterbugs looking for unique shotsb unending, vast expanse of water runs down through a semi-circular outlet and splashes 50ft down at the first level and again falls down to a 100ft deep chasm. On site, the concerned engineer of PWD explained that the construction of the project began in 1976 and was originally proposed to be completed by 1980, but was completed in May 2006 . The spillway type which is of the unique Duckbill type (Morning Glory type) is an ungated structure located in the gorge section with a length of 44 metres (144 ft) which is designed to pass an estimated Design Flood Discharge of 1,450 cubic metres (51,000 cu ft) , Total capacity (Live storage 227,000,000 m3 (8.0×109 cu ft)) , Surface (24 km2 (9.3 sq mil)), water supply (160 million liters per day (MLD) to South Goa) .

The students were made aware that the water from the dam is pumped to the nearby water treatment plant which is placed at a higher level from where the treated water is supplied for drinking purpose to Vasco, Margao, Quepem, Sanguem and other prime towns and villages in South Goa.
