SEEDS Inaugural & Installation of the New Council 2025-26

The Department of Science and Humanities of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, hosted the SEEDS inaugural and installation of the new council for the academic year 2025-26 on 13th September 2025. The event was graced by Rev. Fr. Ralin De Souza, Rector, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Fernandes, Director, Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal, and Rev. Fr. Leo Pereira, Administrator. The program was coordinated by Ms. Carol Cardozo and Ms. Jesselyn Fernandes, under the guidance of Dr. Kala Nayak, Head of Department.
In line with this year’s theme “Into the Vortex: Clean and Affordable Energy”, focusing on SDG 7, attendees were greeted with handmade crochet flowers with bulb-shaped bees, symbolizing innovation and sustainability.
The event commenced with a soulful prayer song, followed by heartfelt welcome addresses by Dr. Neena Panandikar and Rev. Fr. Ralin De Souza, who emphasized the role of youth in championing sustainable solutions.

The outgoing council was felicitated by Mrs. Vaishali Parakhi, the former SEEDS Faculty Coordinator, in recognition of their contributions. The new council was then formally installed with the following members taking charge:
- Chairperson: Mr. Aditya Bingekar
- Secretary: Mr. Arnav Dessai
- Treasurer: Ms. Marvilla Cardozo
- Executive Members: Ms. Gargi Mohite (FE ECS), Mr. Abhishek Sane (FE Mechanical), Ms. Illysa Afonso (FE Civil), Ms. M. R. Diya (FE Computer I), Ms. Sanvi Phatarpekar (FE Computer II).
One of the highlights of the day was the expert session by Prof. Rajkumar S. Pant, Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Bombay, who delivered an insightful talk on “To Drone or Not To Drone: An Overview of Merits and Demerits of Drones.” The online session was engaging and featured captivating video demonstrations that kept the audience hooked.
Following the formalities, students participated in a series of exciting events designed to unleash creativity and teamwork:
- Escape the Vortex: A clue-hunting challenge where teams raced against time to “escape” snakes & ladders-themed puzzles.
- Mismatched Madness: A quirky fashion show where participants flaunted their craziest, most mismatched outfits, proving sustainability can be stylish and fun.
- Logo-Making: Students crafted vibrant logos representing the year’s theme.
- Big-E: Teams collaborated to create an oversized art piece from electronic waste, turning e-waste into a message on responsible disposal.
- Pick and Act: Participants were given less than 24 hours to prepare and perform skits on surprise themes, showcasing spontaneity and wit.
- Relay-Quiz: A high-energy quiz blended trivia, puzzles, and mini-games to keep participants on their toes.
- Reel-Making: Students captured the day’s highlights on camera, with the best reel creator crowned the new Social Media Head of SEEDS.
The event was a perfect mix of inspiration and entertainment, with enthusiastic participation from first-year students who brought fresh energy to the council’s initiatives. The day ended on a note of excitement, setting the stage for a year full of sustainable innovations and creative engagements.
