Seminar on Blockchain

On February 9, 2019, the C-Codes in association with the Department of Computer Engineering organised a technical talk on Blockchain which commenced at 11:00am. The session was attended by 95 computer engineering students of S.E Comp and T.E Comp.The speaker for the Session was Mr. Aaron de Miranda Colaco who is a Blockchain Consultant at the tech company Qiibee. The coordinators for the seminar are Prof Amey Tilve, Prof Manisha Faldessai and Prof Merwyn D’Souza.

The session began with an introduction to Blockchain wherein Mr. Aaron spoke about ‘what is Blockchain?’,  its properties and years of adoption since 2016.He then explained about Bitcoin and how it was founded. He introduced the students to “Ethereum”, an open source, public, Blockchain based distributed computing platform. He also mentioned the two types of Blockchain namely public (Ethereum, Bitcoin) and private (Bankchain, Hyperledger).The students were also made aware of the various field in which Blockchain could be used if anyone was interested in taking it up for their final year projects.

It was a good experience for all the students who attended the seminar and gained  knowledge beyond the curriculum. The session concluded at 1 pm.
