Seminar on Career Opportunities at BARC

An awareness session on career opportunities present at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) was organized by the Training and Placement Cell of DBCE, Fatorda. The session began with the introduction of two speakers by Dr. Shreyas Simu, Asst. TPO of the college. The sessions were delivered by Mr. Nagraj Alangi, Scientific Officer, and Mr. Sourabh Garg, Head, ESNS division provided valuable insights into nuclear energy and career opportunities in the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).
Mr. Nagraj highlighted the advantages of nuclear energy over traditional electricity generation methods, emphasizing its efficiency, sustainability, and low environmental impact. He discussed the role of engineering in advancing reactor safety, waste management, and nuclear technology applications, including medical treatments, industrial uses, and food security through techniques like irradiation. Mr. Nagraj also touched upon mega-science projects such as ITER and their role in global scientific advancement.
Mr. Sourabh focused on career prospects in DAE, detailing recruitment opportunities through programs like OCES and DGFS. He explained the eligibility criteria, selection process, and the significance of initiatives like HBNI and DDFS for academic and research growth. Sourabh also highlighted practical training and internships at BARC, which provide hands-on experience in nuclear science and engineering. The seminar underscored the dual importance of nuclear technology in addressing global challenges and offering promising career paths for aspiring professionals. Students asked a series of questions which were answered by Mr. Sourabh. Dr. Vidya D.S. presented memento to both the speakers. The session ended with vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shreyas Simu.
