Staff Orientation Programme
Don Bosco College of Engineering organized a Staff Orientation Programme for the new staff of Don Bosco College, Panjim and Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda. This programme was to align the new staff by creating awareness of the Don Bosco way of life. 24 staff members attended the programme conducted on Friday, 13 October 2023 from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm in Seminar Hall 2.
Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal, DBCE welcomed the staff for the programme. The first session was conducted by Fr. Ralin D’Souza, Rector, Don Bosco Fatorda on the topic, ‘Teaching in a Salesian Environment’. In this session, he spoke about the Lamp Posts in the life of Don Bosco and put forth the importance of building Academic Community, Education Climate, Holistic Formation and Accompaniment.
The second session was delivered by Fr. Banzelao Texeira, Vice-Provincial, Salesians of Don Bosco, Province of Panjim on the topic, ‘The Art of Salesian Accompaniment’. He mentioned about the welcoming attitude, Challenge, Confidence/Trust, Environment, Crises, Decision and Commitment that every educator belonging to the Salesians Community needs to imbibe as a part of Salesian Education System.
The next session was conducted by Fr. Joaquim Lobo, Director, Don Bosco, Panjim on the topic, ‘Principles of Don Bosco’s Teaching System’. He spoke about the relevance of Don Bosco’s Teachings in today’s academic system.
The last session was delivered by Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Director, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda on the topic, ‘Pedagogy of Presence’. He said, “It is important to have humble, patient, joyful, creative presence as educators. Teachers need to be facilitators of life and growth.”
