STEM Talks on the Future of Women in STEM at Carmel Higher Secondary School
Dhrishni – Women’s Cell of Don Bosco College of Engineering started an initiative towards promoting Women in STEM as an Institute Social Responsibility (ISR) activity. The first interactive session was conducted at Carmel Higher Secondary School, Nuvem on 02 December 2023 for the students of XI, and XII Science. The team comprised on Natasha D’Souza e Jaques (Department of Science & Humanities), Mohini Naik (Department of Electronics & Computer Science) and Avila Naik (Training & Placement Officer).
Natasha D’Souza e Jaques, Assistant Professor in Mathematics spoke about the importance of learning mathematics. She explained to the students how Mathematics can be seen in nature and how one can model a real life problem to a mathematical problem. She encouraged the students to be imaginative and creative and she said ” if you want to make a difference in the world around you, you have to be able to use mathematics to create and innovate.”
Mohini Naik, Assistant Professor in Electronics & Computer Science provided inputs on women as inspiration in Technology. She focused on empowering girls at a young age in science and technology.
Avila Naik elaborated on this initiative of encouraging, empowering, engaging and inspiring Women in STEM.
