Mr. Sachin Tukaram Turi, an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Department at DBCE, presented a lecture titled “ Origami: The Art and Engineering of Paper Folding” at M.I.B.K. High School, Khandepar and Swami Vivekanand VMS Higher Secondary School, Borim. This lecture was part of Vidnyan Dhara 2025, an engaging science series organized by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa, with the aim of fostering scientific curiosity among young individuals.

The talk by Mr. Sachin Turi, explored the fascinating intersection of art and engineering through the ancient Japanese art of paper folding, known as origami. The students got an opportunity to know how origami has evolved from a traditional craft to a field of scientific research and engineering innovation. The talk featured a hands-on session where students created a Pinwheel Origami model. Students were shown basic origami patterns created by DBCE Mechanical students as part of their project work. The final session involved streaming videos that highlighted the potential of origami in various fields, such as space technology, soft robotics, disaster management, and civil engineering.

The sessions received an overwhelming response, with around 50 science students from Swami Vivekanand VMS Higher Secondary School and approximately 100 students from M.I.B.K. High School in attendance. The talks were coordinated by Ms. Rajani Naik Arolkar from Swami Vivekanand VMS Higher Secondary School and Ms. Sonam Chodankar from M.I.B.K. High School at their respective institutes.
