Talk on “Smart Technologies for Industry 4.0” at Kendriya Vidyalaya 1, Vasco

Dr. Ajit Salunke, an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Department at DBCE, delivered a lecture titled “Smart Technologies for Industry 4.0” at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya on 11/2/26. This session was part of Vidnyan Dhara 2026, an engaging science series organized by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa, with the aim of fostering scientific curiosity among young individuals..

The talk began with an overview of industrial revolutions, with special emphasis on Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing. Dr. Salunke explained how modern factories integrate sensors, machines, robots, and wireless communication to enable real-time monitoring, data sharing, and autonomous decision-making, leading to the concept of a Smart Factory. Key technologies discussed during the session included Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), collaborative robots, big data, digital twins, 5G etc.

Further, Dr. Salunke elaborated on advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Machine Vision, and Robot Vision, highlighting their applications in automated inspection, quality control, robotics, agriculture, and marine industries. Concepts of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) were also introduced, with real world examples.

The talk concluded with discussions on Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), its processes, materials, and applications, including India’s first 3D-printed house, and the concept of Digital Twins for smart factories and ports. Dr. Salunke. He captured students’ interest by showcasing engaging videos.
