Webinar on “Role of Condition Monitoring and AI in Maintenance”
The Department of Mechanical Engineering held its seventh webinar in Audit Course in Maintenance Engineering for the academic year 2020-2021, on July 16, 2021 from 3.15 pm to 4.30 pm. The session was delivered by Mr. Ramnath Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Don Bosco College of Engineering on “Role of Condition Monitoring and AI in Maintenance”.
The webinar was hosted via Google meet. 70 participants from the Third year Mechanical Engineering students and Faculties from Department of Mechanical Engineering attended the webinar. The event was hosted and coordinated by Prof. Swapnil Ramani and Prof. Mayur Shetti. The event was initiated by Prof. Swapnil who welcomed the participants and gave a brief introduction about the resource person.
Prof. Ramnath started by talking about the different terminologies and basics of vibration. He said “Vibration is found in everyday life”. He spoke about measurement of acceleration using accelerometer. He spoke about conversion between acceleration and velocity using Nomogram. He spoke about phase difference, amplitude and Spectrum Analyser. Application of Fourier Transform to segregate vibration pattern was stressed on. He spoke about the reason behind unbalance. Spectrum analysis is used for vibration monitoring. He spoke about predictive Maintenance using AI and Data.
Overall, the talk was very interactive, with students asking questions displaying curiosity and a willingness to learn more about the topics covered in the session.
