Winter School 2025: “From Zero to Data Hero”

The Department of Computer Engineering, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, organized a week-long Winter School titled “From Zero to Data Hero” from 27th to 31st October 2025, funded by the Goa State Research Foundation (GSRF). The program aimed to introduce students to programming and data science using Python and R through a fun, hands-on learning approach.
The inaugural ceremony featured Prof. Savio Faleiro as the Chief Guest, who commended the department’s efforts in promoting data literacy among school students. He encouraged participants to cultivate analytical and problem-solving skills through active engagement with coding exercises.
The Winter School saw enthusiastic participation from students representing 12 schools across Goa. Faculty members Dr. Gaurang Patkar, Dr. Amrita Naik, Sweta Morajkar, and Christina Barretto conducted interactive sessions that combined conceptual learning with practical implementation.
The program successfully provided young learners with foundational exposure to programming, data analysis, and logical thinking. It concluded on an inspiring note, motivating students to continue exploring the vast field of data science in the future.
