‘World of Artificial Intelligence’ by Sci-Minds Series

The Department of Science and Humanities as a part of their Sci-Minds Series conducted a session on ‘World of Artificial Intelligence’ on 08th February 2025 for the students of First Year Engineering. The Speaker for the day was Mr. Amey Kerkar, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Computer Engineering. The session aimed to discuss fundamental concepts, applications and ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence. It was coordinated by Ms. Esta Pereira, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Sc. & Hum under the guidance of Dr. Kala Nayak, HoD, Sc. & Hum.  

Mr. Kerkar began the session by comparing human intelligence to artificial intelligence, emphasizing the differences between human creativity, emotional understanding and AI’s task-oriented, data-driven capabilities. The session provided examples of AI applications like Dall-E, Leonardo AI; demonstrating how AI enhances daily tasks followed by the importance of establishing guidelines to ensure AI is developed ethically, safely and beneficially to the society.

Ms. Arya Dutta expressed gratitude to the speaker for his valuable time and for delivering an informative session.
