International Women’s Day Celebration

International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE). The event brought together women staff members and girl students to recognize and appreciate the achievements and contributions of women in society. The theme for the celebration was “Denim and Diamonds,” symbolizing the strength and resilience of women through denim, and their brilliance and individuality through diamonds. The theme reflected the idea that women embody both strength and elegance in their personal and professional lives.
The celebration was held in the college auditorium and began with an address by the Director, Fr. Wilfred Fernandes, who spoke about the importance of acknowledging and supporting the role of women in educational institutions and society. An engaging quiz based on famous women personalities followed, encouraging participants to celebrate the achievements of women across various fields. The program also featured a lively musical performance by Prof. Sweta Morajkar, who presented a humorous Konkani song composed about the staff members, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. Participants then took part in interactive activities such as “Pass the Smile,” where members complimented one another, and a self-care session in which pairs exchanged simple hand massages to highlight the importance of personal wellbeing.
The celebration continued with the Blanket Game, a fun team activity that created much laughter and excitement. Adding to the festive spirit, the Principal and her team performed a lively dance, and the girl students also joined in with energetic group dances. During the program, three staff members were honored with special awards, and the members of the Dhrishni Committee were felicitated for their service and dedication. The event concluded with an energetic Zumba session led by Arafat, bringing everyone together in celebration and joy. Snacks were served at the end, giving participants time to interact and share their experiences.
Overall, the celebration was a vibrant and meaningful occasion that highlighted the strength, creativity, and spirit of the women of DBCE.
