Engineering as a Career – 2026

The Training and Placement Cell of Don Bosco College of Engineering organized an informative session on “Engineering as a Career – 2026” on 11th April 2026 at the DBCE Auditorium. The event was aimed at prospective students of Classes X, XI, XII, diploma holders, and their parents. The primary objective of the session was to guide students in selecting the appropriate engineering branch and to create awareness about the admission process conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa.
The session commenced with a brief introduction by Prof. Shruti Jambhale, the moderator for the event. This was followed by an overview of the session delivered by Dr. Shreyas Simu from the Department of Electronics and Computer Science. Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal of DBCE, provided valuable insights into the National Education Policy (NEP) and its implications for higher education.

Prof. Swapnil Ramani, Admission Coordinator, presented a detailed explanation of the admission process conducted by DTE Goa. He emphasized the importance of actively participating in the admission rounds, stating that merely filling out application forms does not guarantee admission. Subsequently, Dr. Kala Naik highlighted the various scholarships available to students, while Prof. Satyesh Kakodkar provided information on the DJ Scheme.
The session continued with a panel discussion featuring faculty members from various engineering disciplines. Prof. Selvyn Fernandes elaborated on Electronics and Computer Science and related career opportunities. Prof. Manisha Faldessai discussed the scope of Computer Engineering, Dr. Nitendra Palankar introduced the field of Civil Engineering, and Prof. Sachin Turi provided insights into Mechanical Engineering.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed, moderated by Prof. Shruti Jambhale, where parents and students raised queries that were effectively addressed by the panel of experts.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Norman Dias, who expressed his gratitude to the Principal, the speakers, and the panel members for their valuable contributions. He also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and parents, which contributed to the overall success of the event.
