Inaugural Ceremony of Procyon 2026

The inaugural ceremony of Procyon 2026, the annual inter-class cultural festival of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda–Goa, was held on March 24, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony marked the official commencement of the much-awaited cultural fiesta that brings together students from various classes to celebrate talent, creativity, and unity.

The event began with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Mrs. Samiksha Kakodkar, a renowned vocalist, and the Guest of Honour, Ms. Rennea De Souza, a lead singer. They were warmly welcomed by the college dignitaries, including Director Rev. Fr. Wilfred Fernandes, Principal Dr. Neena Panandikar, and Administrator Fr. Leo Pereira. The programme was compered by Reuel Luis and Shanaia Martis, who greeted the gathering and highlighted the significance of Procyon as a platform for students to showcase their talents.

The ceremony commenced with a prayer song, invoking blessings for the success of the event. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge, positivity, and the dispelling of darkness. The dignitaries participated in the lamp-lighting ceremony, which was escorted by the General Secretary, Mr. Samruddha Patil.

Following this, the guests were felicitated with floral tributes and bouquets as a gesture of respect and gratitude. The Principal, Dr. Neena Panandikar, then delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of cultural activities in the holistic development of students.

Rev. Fr. Wilfred Fernandes, Director of the institution, addressed the gathering and encouraged students to participate wholeheartedly in the festival, highlighting the values of leadership, creativity, and healthy competition. The Administrator, Fr. Leo Pereira, also spoke on the occasion, inspiring students to uphold unity and values while celebrating their talents.

The programme continued with the introduction of the Guest of Honour, Ms. Rennea De Souza, followed by her address, in which she appreciated the efforts of the organizers and encouraged students. This was followed by the introduction of the Chief Guest, Mrs. Samiksha Kakodkar, who delivered an inspiring speech motivating students to pursue their passions and nurture their talents.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the release of the Procyon 2026 Souvenir, which was unveiled by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. Soon after, the Chief Guest officially declared Procyon 2026 open, marking the beginning of the cultural festivities.



The General Secretary, Mr. Samruddha Patil, then addressed the gathering and provided a brief overview of the events and activities planned for the festival. As a token of appreciation, mementos were presented to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour by the Director and the Principal, respectively. Special recognition was also accorded to Mr. Jayprakash and Mr. Freddy Fernandes for their valuable contributions to organizing the event.

The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by the Cultural Secretary, Mr. Sherwin Dias, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, organizers, and participants for their support and presence.

The inaugural ceremony ended on a delightful note with a musical performance by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Samiksha Kakodkar, and the Guest of Honour, Ms. Rennea De Souza. Their performance captivated the audience and created an enthusiastic atmosphere, setting the perfect tone for the cultural festival.

The event concluded successfully, leaving students motivated and excited for the competitions and activities of Procyon 2026.
