A Seminar and Panel Discussion on the theme “Use of AI in Governance” was successfully conducted on April 6, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Seminar Hall, Secretariat Complex, Alto Porvorim, Goa. The event was organized by the Directorate of Vigilance, Directorate of Public Grievances, and Directorate of Industries, Trade & Commerce, Government of Goa.

The seminar brought together distinguished experts from academia and government to deliberate on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing governance. The discussions focused on how AI can improve public service delivery, efficiently resolve citizen grievances, and enable transparent and data-driven decision-making.

Dr. Shreyas Simu, Associate Professor from Don Bosco College of Engineering, was one of the invited speakers at the event. He delivered an insightful session on “Use of AI in Governance,” highlighting practical applications such as automation of administrative processes, predictive analytics for policy planning, and AI-driven decision support systems. His talk emphasized the importance of responsible AI adoption to improve efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness in public administration.

Dr. Shreyas Simu also actively participated in the panel discussion on “Human Creativity & Machine Learning,” where several thought-provoking questions were discussed. The panel explored critical concerns such as where to draw the line between assistance and over-reliance on AI, and how to handle situations where AI generates confident but incorrect responses. Further, the panel deliberated on whether AI systems can truly understand local context, culture, and ground realities, which are crucial in governance. Important questions regarding the future workforce were also addressed, including the key skills government employees need to develop in the age of AI and how AI is likely to transform the nature of government jobs in the coming years. The discussion provided valuable insights into balancing technological advancement with human judgment and ethical considerations.

The program also featured sessions by other eminent speakers, followed by interactive Q&A segments that encouraged active engagement from participants. The event concluded with a valedictory session, marking the successful completion of an enriching and informative program.

Overall, the seminar served as a significant platform for fostering collaboration between academia and government institutions, underscoring the growing importance of AI in shaping the future of governance.
