UBA Xeldem Visit

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) team members, Prof.Satyesh Kakodkar, Prof. Yeshudas Muttu and Prof. Sweta Morajkar along with Mr.Tushar Sawant, Enterprise Development Manager, FiiRE (Forum for Innovation Incubation Research & Entrepreneurship) visited Xeldem village Panchayat on  March 5, 2021. The UBA team interacted with the Sarpanch, Mr. Caitano F. J. de Lima along with the active Panch members, Mr.Vithoba Naik, Mr. Babu Shetkar and Mr. Johan Fernandes. The main objective of this gathering was to carry out entrepreneurship oriented training programs for the people from Xeldem, Goa, thus serving the mission of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.

Mr. Tushar Sawant gave a brief overview about various schemes and training programmes available in the field of Food technology and Agriculture including Oyster mushroom cultivation, Bee keeping, support for Jaggery unit, etc. He spoke about One district One Product (ODOP) which aims at giving a major push to traditional industries. The objective of the ODOP is to optimize production, productivity and income, preservation and development of local crafts, promotion of art, improvement in product quality and skill development. Mr. Sawant shared his views about various ways of creating more than 100 microenterprises and different financial schemes for the same. He also spoke about assistance in Marketing and Packaging provided by FiiRE. The Sarpanch along with the Panch members discussed the action plan to identify the interest of their villagers & provide them training accordingly. UBA team members suggested having an awareness Programme for the Xeldem Villagers which was accepted by the Sarpanch & Panch members to be conducted on  March 27, 2021.
