DBCE Mechanical Students visit Astra Metal, Verna

The second-year Mechanical Engineering students of Don Bosco College of Engineering visited Astra Metal Systems Private Limited, Verna, Goa, on 10th April 2026, as part of an industrial visit aimed at gaining practical exposure to modern manufacturing practices. Astra Metal Systems is an ISO 9001:2015 certified organization with over two decades of experience in precision sheet metal fabrication and assembly, serving industries such as aerospace, telecom, healthcare, banking, and infrastructure. The visit was conducted under the guidance of faculty member Dr. Avil Allwyn Dsa,
During the visit, students were introduced to key sheet metal manufacturing processes, including CNC laser cutting, CNC punching, and CNC press brake bending. These operations demonstrated role of automation and computer-controlled systems in modern manufacturing. The visit also covered surface finishing and coating processes such as brush finishing, plating, and painting, which enhance surface quality, corrosion resistance, and durability. The company follows ROHS-compliant practices, ensuring environmental and safety standards.
Students also learned about quality inspection using advanced metrology tools like laser-based systems for precise measurement and consistency. The visit highlighted the wide applications of sheet metal components in aerospace, telecom, medical, and infrastructure sectors, demonstrating their industrial importance.
