NSS One-Day Trek to Kuske Village

The NSS Unit of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda organized a One-Day Trek to Kuske Village and Waterfall on Friday, 13th March 2026. The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness, teamwork, and community engagement among NSS volunteers. A total of 41 NSS volunteers participated in the trek. The volunteers were accompanied by Dr. Kala Nayak, Registrar of DBCE, Dr. Chetan Gaonkar, NSS Programme Officer, and Prof. Clifford Barreto, College Director of Sports, who guided and supported the students throughout the activity.
The volunteers began the day with a trek to the scenic Kuske waterfall, enjoying the natural surroundings and appreciating the rich biodiversity of the area. Although a village engagement activity had initially been planned, due to time constraints the volunteers were unable to participate in the scheduled farming activity. However, demonstrating the true spirit of the NSS motto “Not Me, But You,” the volunteers took up a cleanliness drive around the waterfall area after completing the trek. The volunteers actively cleaned the surroundings, contributing to the preservation of the natural environment and spreading awareness about responsible tourism.
In recognition of her support in organizing and hosting the NSS volunteers in Kuske village, Ms. Sujal Sandeep Gaonkar was presented with a memento by Dr. Kala Nayak, Registrar of Don Bosco College of Engineering. The NSS Unit expressed its sincere gratitude for her warm hospitality and cooperation in facilitating the visit. The trek was coordinated by Dr. Chetan Gaonkar and Prof. Tanay Rege, ensuring the smooth conduct of the activity. The event provided the volunteers with a meaningful experience, reinforcing the importance of environmental responsibility, teamwork, and service to the community.
